PRISM London

The most important accessory for anyone who wears glasses is no doubt the glasses that they wear on a daily basis. London-based PRISM believe this as well as their glasses are aimed at anyone who has an interest in the aesthetic - who is obsessed with detail but doesn’t want to lose on functionality. People that are understated, fashionable, yet measured and considered about every thing they wear or surround themselves with, male or female. The frames are produced using traditional techniques. Everything is hand-made and hand-finished. There are no moulds, so each pair of frames is unique.
They get inspiration from everything from American ’50s and ’60s vintage frames and the style on the streets of Stockholm, to the clean lines of Mexico City’s Bauhaus architecture.

Barracuda Sunglasses from A-Morir

In the latest Jay Z video Run This Town, Rihanna rocks these dope sunglasses that peaked my interest immediately. It turns out it’s from A-Morir by Kerin Rose, and the only problem is that they are not transparent, which means you could probably get any use out if it if a: you’re blind with a penchant for fashion, b: are lying on the beach basking in the sun, or c: filming a music video. If you fit any of these descriptions, you can get this studded, Swarovski-crystal beauty for $350.

Retro vs. Oversized

After browsing the latest in Summer eyewear, I keep returning to my initial assumption, that there are two types of styles that dominate the market. One is the ’80s California surf-lifestyle Wayfarer frame, which has seen a resurgence in popularity over the past two years or so. The other is the trendy high-fashion type of oversized frames that cover half your face. Both definitely have their advantages. The latter always comes in handy when you’re having a bad face day, and always manages to give you an heir of confidence. The Wayfarer type is more relaxed, fun, and rock n roll. Two years ago, I was all about the Frogskins, last year, I went for an oversized Dior, now this year I bought a pair of Vans Spicolis. What about you? What are you favouring this season?
