The last day of New York Fashion Week brought one of the most anticipated shows of the entire week: Marc Jacobs’ 2012 Spring collection.

The rumour mills are spinning this week as we’ve heard that Marc Jacobs might be taking over as the new Dior creative director, which has been left unfilled since Galliano was ousted for his drunken slurs. Marc Jacobs president Robert Duffy has dropped what could be seen a hint about his friend and business partner taking the job. He told the Wall Street Journal (among other things) that “[Marc] could do a couture line” – thereby throwing his hat in the ring for the only part of the Dior business that he doesn’t have experience in.

One of the most highly anticipated shows at New York Fashion Week was Marc Jacobs’ Fall collection. Expect a lot of classic 1940s style mixed with the future using shiny, metal surfaces. Polkadot skirts and lace dresses have been given a new meaning, while retaining classic elegance but looking forward.

Marc Jacobs’ 2011 Spring campaign photos are pretty much identical to the ones shown at New York Fashion Week, which conjure up the ’70s. Starring in the ads, which were shot by Juergen Teller, are 16-year-old Caroline Brasch Nielsen and Masha Kirsanovaes.

17-year-old model, Frida Gustavsson has become the face for Marc Jacob’s Daisy fragrance. Gustavsson replaces Irina Kulikova, but they’ve kept Juergen Teller on board to shoot the campaign. Yay:)

The latest issue of V Magazine pays tribute to the Big Apple. There will be two main covers for their September issue, after Lady Gaga and Marc Jacobs, the second one features artist Marina Abramovic with supermodel Tyson Ballou. The magazine also showcases 26 inspiring New Yorkers including Chloe Sevigny.

Poor Marc. It looks like he’s been getting the shorter end of the stick lately. As if it weren’t enough that his ex, Jason Preston is set to publish a tell-all book about his days with Marc, but we’ve just received news that he’s no longer together with Lorenzo Martone. The news was confirmed through Lorenzo’s Twitter: “thanks for t notes. yes, I saw t press today. We are not together, haven’t been in 2 months. And we will not comment on it. Sorry. We r fine”.
