Happy Birthday Black Barbie!

This year makes the 30th birthday of the African American Barbie! Happy birthday! I remember I had an ice skater one back when I was a kid. Her name was Debbie, and later when I was in my I-want-to-be-a-hairdresser phase, I turned her into a punk. She was way cooler than any Barbie I’ve ever had. Here’s to you, Debbie!:)
Vogue Italy put together a great issue dedicated to Barbie. Check out some images after the jump.

Lady Gaga Barbie Dolls!
Tags: Barbie, Lady Gaga, Toy

We all love/loved Barbies at one point in our lives or another. Sure we spent hours playing with her even if her wardrobe wasn’t the best. I wish Veik, a 29-year-old doll “player” from Beijing, would have been around back then. He put together a few DIY outfits styled after some of Lady Gaga’s most memorable outfits. They are very impressive and detailed with everything from Alexander McQueen’s lobster claw shoes to everything else. These might actually get me interested in Barbies again.

Heidi Klum Becomes a Barbie Doll

So we all know that Barbie is celebrating her 50th birthday this year, which has so far been full of great projects and events commemorating her half-century run. One of the latest news is that they’ve gone and made a Barbie doll in the form of Heidi Klum, which will hit stores in September. The doll is part of the Blonde Ambition collection, which consists of other Barbies in the likeness of such iconic names as Marilyn Monroe and Goldie Hawn, and aims to pay tribute to famous blondes. I used to be a HUGE Barbie fan, and for some reason, I think I could still play around with these on a quiet afternoon:)
